Dr. Richard Nguyen
As a board certified General surgeon, Dr. Richard Nguyen specializes in laparoscopic and bariatric surgery. Dr. Nguyen has been a clinical instructor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center as well as clinical faculty at Michigan State University. He has served as a faculty instructor during the SAGES (The Society of American Endoscopic Surgeons) national meetings for advanced endoscopic procedures and is on the SAGES committee for Bariatric surgery. Dr. Nguyen has presented papers nationally regarding treatment modalities for GERD and the field of surgical weight loss.
Dr. Nguyen completed his General Surgery Residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. He then completed his fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatrics at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. We are proud to have Dr. Nguyen as the head of our Bariatric Surgery Program.
Dr. Huy T.T. Nguyen
Dr. Huy T.T. Nguyen has established himself as a premier surgeon, with expertise in standard and minimally invasive surgery. Since 1997 Dr. Huy Nguyen has seen and treated over 15,000 patients and has average 600 surgeries per year. His vast experience includes surgery for general, cancer, endocrine, and minimally invasive surgeries in gastroesophageal reflux disease, colon, biliary tract, hernia and adhesions causing abdominal pain. He is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer.
Additionally, he performs head and neck surgery, including surgery for thyroid and parathyroid diseases.
Dr. Huy Nguyen grew up in Orange County, California. He received his Bachelor of Sciences at Saint Ambrose University in Iowa. He went on to the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences and received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 1992. He then specialized in general and advanced laparoscopic surgery in New York City at the Peninsula Hospital Center.
Dr. Nguyen is board certified in general surgery and a fellow of the College of Osteopathic Surgeons and the College of International Surgeons. He taught surgery at the Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is the United States western regional trainer for advanced laparoscopic abdominal wall hernia repair. He is also a pioneer in advanced laparoscopic surgery and has trained surgeons in his native country of Vietnam.

Dr. Nang Nguyen
Dr. Nang Nguyen joined in 2004. He received his surgical training in Queens, New York with extensive training in many of the most renowned and busiest trauma centers in the nation, such as Westchester Medical Center. He did his laparoscopic training at Pascak Valley Hospital in New Jersey and Critical Care at St. Joseph Hospital in Patterson, New Jersey. He has extensive training in general surgery, surgery for breast and colon cancer, and minimally invasive surgeries.
Dr. Nang Nguyen received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Philosophy from the Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, and then attended medical school at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, graduating in 1998.
Dr. Nang Nguyen has also written various research papers, including Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors and The Role Gleevec STI571 in 2003, Current Diagnosis and Management of Acute Pancreatitis in 2003, The Benefit of Osteopathic Manipulative Treatments in Post Operative Abdominal Surgery in 2004, and is awaiting publishing.
Dr. Nang Nguyen is a proud member of the American Osteopathic Surgeons, American Medical Association, Society of Abdominal Surgeons, Santa Clara Medical Association, Society of Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgeons, National Medical Society, New York State Osteopathic Medical Society, and the Committee of Interns and Residents.
